George Zimmerman Punched in Face at Florida Restaurant

George Zimmerman, who was tried and acquitted in the murder of Trayvon Martin, claims he was punched in the face at a Florida restaurant by a fellow guest who heard him boasting about killing the unarmed teen in 2012.

According to Zimmerman's account, the incident started inside Gators Riverside Grille when he complimented another patron's confederate flag tattoos. A friend of the tattooed guy recognized Zimmerman and the two talked about the neighborhood watch that the killer was a member of.

Zimmerman claims that at that point, "a large fat man approached" and said "You're bragging about that?" The man, who Zimmerman identified only as "Eddie," told him to leave the restaurant and called him a "n****r lover." Zimmerman alleges that he told Eddie "I'm not looking for trouble" and was promptly slugged in the face.

WFTV9 spoke with witnesses who have a different account.

According to eyewitnesses at the restaurant, they heard Zimmerman say "I love your tattoos. My name is George Zimmerman, you know the guy who killed Trayvon Martin?"

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Zimmerman called 911 and said "This man just punched me in the face... he was going to kill me. You need to send three or four cops."

Representatives from the Gators Riverside Grille have asked Zimmerman not to come back to the restaurant.
