Logo Renews 'Finding Prince Charming' for Interactive Second Season
READ TIME: 2 MIN.
If you can't get enough of "The Bachelor"-style gay dating show "Finding Prince Charming" then you're in luck: Logo announced Thursday that it renewed the reality show for a second season. Not only that, but fans will get to vote on who becomes the next prince charming.
Green-lighting a second season of the controversial program may not be a surprise to some: Airing after "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 2," "Finding Prince Charming" earned impressive ratings in its freshman run, earning 3.4 million collective viewers since the show's September debut. That, combined with the big ratings from "All Stars 2," "led Logo to its highest rated Thursday night in network history," according to a press release from the network.
"Finding Prince Charming" models itself after "The Bachelor" franchise, pitting 13 suitors against each other who are vying for the titular prince charming - the controversial Robert Sepulveda Jr., a 33-year-old interior designer. Hosted by Lance Bass, the dating show has been scrutinized by some members of the LGBT community, especially over Sepulveda's decade-old Rentboy.com profile, which surfaced in the weeks leading up to the show's premiere. "Finding Prince Charming" made headlines just last week when one of the suitors revealed he is HIV-positive.
The dating show's first season ends on Nov. 3 with Bass hosting a reunion show "filled with drama, fun, heartbreak and never-before-seen-footage" on Nov. 10.
Logo writes starting Nov. 3 through Nov. 16, "potential suitors can submit a photo or video via hashtag through Instagram or Twitter showing the public why they should have a chance at love on the next season of Logo's dating competition series. On Thursday, November 17, fans will vote from the top potential suitors and the winner will vie for Prince Charming's heart."
Season 1 of "Finding Prince Charming" is currently airing Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST on Logo.
