Watch: Series Based on RuPaul's Life Coming to Hulu
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Condragulations, Mama Ru! A series based on the "Drag Race" host's life is coming to Hulu.
Set in the Reagan era '80s during RuPaul's early days as a New York club kid, the show will be developed into a half-hour dramedy, with the working title "Queen," according to The Hollywood reporter. Hulu's announcement comes five months after the show, produced by J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot, was taken to marketplace.
Gary Lennon ("Power") will write the scripts and serve as executive producer alongside RuPaul, Abrams and Bad Robot's Ben Stephenson. Also serving as an executive producer is "Drag Race" production company World of Wonder's Fenton Bailey, Tom Campbell and Randy Barbato.
No casting announcement have been revealed just yet, but Ru told the New York Post last month he'd like to see Willow Smith in the role. Ru shared the news over on Twitter and responded to a fan asking who he wants to see play him, and of course his response as hilarious.
An air date has also not been announced.
