Report: Ex Grindr Employee Sues App, Claims HR Supervisor Drugged & Raped Him
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
TMZ is reporting a former Grindr employee is suing the gay dating app, claiming his human resources supervisor drugged him and raped him during the company's 2016 Christmas party.
The plaintiff, who is unnamed and only identified as John Doe, alleges Daniel Cabanero slipped him a drug during the event, put him in a car and took him to a hotel room where he anally penetrated him.
Joe Doe claims he woke up during the act where Cabanero was allegedly holding him down on the bed. The plaintiff says he lost consciousness again.
When he woke up he immediately went to the emergency room where he was "subjected to a highly invasive and humiliating rape examination," according to TMZ. John Doe says he also went to the authorities, which launched an investigation that may be ongoing.
The plaintiff also alleges a number of Grindr officers were aware he was impaired at the Christmas party but didn't protect his safety, TMZ reports. John Doe claims the company encouraged sexually explicit language, sexual innuendo, and sexual misconduct.
