P!NK's 'Beautiful Trauma Tour' @ Boston's TD Garden

P!NK's Beautiful Trauma tour came to TD Garden in Boston on April 10 & 11th with powerful singing, P!NK's signature acrobatics, and great set designs. It made for a fantastically fun evening.
The evening got started with P!NK hanging from the chandelier and performing aerial acrobatics while singing "Get the Party Started." With dancers on the floor dancing in a funky postmodernist hotel, P!NK made sure that the audience knew they were in for an exciting ride. After the opener, P!NK moved on to performing a wide range of her hits with a never-ending impressive amount of energy. Seriously, how many singers can hang upside down in the air while singing, and then follow it up with a floor dance routine?
P!NK is a physical performer - she dances, swings through the air, and uses every bit of the stage. Her aerial acts are gleefully fun to watch, from flips to simulating intimacy (tastefully). One performed during her final song "So What" was particularly nice. Once again, P!NK was in the air; but, instead of hovering above the stage, she proceeded to fly around the entire auditorium's crowd, while waving and greeting everyone. As someone who has sat in many a nosebleed seat, I loved this moment. Reaching out and connecting with people in every section of the stadium was amazing. It had the entire audience coming together and cheering for each other.
One of the many things that I like about P!NK is that she always comes off as an adult. Be it happy, sad, or anything else, she owns her emotions. I know it has been said before, but she is empowering. From "Who Knew" to "Just Give Me a Reason," P!NK sings about being invested and fully participating in her relationships. It is a nice departure from many performers' songs with an "I'm the wronged party" theme.
What adds to the emotional truthfulness in P!NK's music is that she is not afraid to make fun of herself, acknowledges her own mistakes, and doesn't pretend that life and love aren't hard work. How she can make a song about crumbling relationships resonate emotionally and be poppy fun is a testament to her skill.
