Woody Allen Doubts Being Ronan Farrow's Father

Is Old Blue Eyes Ronan's dad?

Woody Allen thinks he might be. In a report on New York Post's Page Six, Allen was equivocal about his being the father to Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Ronan Farrow.

"In my opinion, he's my child," Allen, 82, said in a profile of his wife, Soon-Yi Previn, that New York magazine published Sunday on its Vulture website.

"I think he is, but I wouldn't bet my life on it. I paid child support for him for his whole childhood, and I don't think that's very fair if he's not mine," Allen said.

Rumors that Frank Sinatra is Farrow's father have persisted for years. Farrow married Sinatra in 1966 when she was 19 and he was 50. They divorced in 1968, but remained friends until his death in 1998. Farrow subsequently married composer and conductor Andre Previn in 1970. Their relationship ended in divorce in 1979.

Farrow became Allen's partner, both professionally and personally, in 1980. Ronan Farrow was born in 1988. Allen and Farrow parted in 1992 when it was revealed that Allen was having an affair with Farrow's adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn. Farrow later accused Allen of having sexually abused another of Farrow's adopted children, Dylan Farrow in 1992. A months-long investigation by the Child Sexual Abuse Clinic of Yale-New Haven Hospital concluded in March 1993 that Dylan had not been sexually assaulted but in June 1993, reported the New York Times in March 1993. But a judge rejected Allen's bid for custody that June, citing Allen was a "self-absorbed, untrustworthy and insensitive" father, reported the Times.

Ronan Farrow received the Pulitzer Prize earlier this year for his reporting in the New Yorker about the sexual abuse scandal involving Harvey Weinstein. A more recent report exposed sexual harassment allegations against CBS CEO Leslie Moonves that led to his resignation.

Farrow came out as gay this past April.

"Being a part of the LGBT community - which recognized that reporting I was doing early on and elevated it, and has been such a stalwart source of support through the sexual assault reporting I did involving survivors who felt equally invisible - that has been an incredible source of strength for me," Farrow, 30, said. "LGBT people are some of the bravest and most potent change agents and leaders I have encountered, and the most forceful defenders of the vulnerable and voiceless, because they know what it's like to be there."

In the Post report, Allen also claims Farrow as not being faithful during their relationship. "Also she represented herself as a faithful person, and she certainly wasn't. Whether she actually became pregnant in an affair she had... "

In a 2014 New York Times interview Allen had doubts about Farrow's paternity. "Is he my son or, as Mia suggests, Frank Sinatra's? Granted, he looks a lot like Frank with the blue eyes and facial features, but if so what does this say?"
