HBO announced Thursday that it is renewing buzzy teen drama "Euphoria" for a second season, Deadline reports.

"'Euphoria' creator Sam Levinson has built an incredible world with an extraordinary cast led by the supremely talented Zendaya," HBO's EVP Programming Francesca Orsi said. "We are so grateful that he chose HBO as the home for this groundbreaking series. We look forward to following these complex characters as their journeys continue through the challenging world they inhabit."

The drama has been making headlines before it even debuted last month. Reports about the number of penises in the show went viral and after "Euphoria" actually aired, its stars opened up about filming some intense nudity scenes. Nevertheless, Levinson has said he tires to make the series "empathic."

Deadline notes "Euphoria" is among HBO's "youngest-skewing drama series." The show's last episode earned a series-high for ratings, pulling in 609,000 viewers. Each week, "Euphoria" viewership has increase – a rare feat in today's over-populated TV landscape.
