Netflix Series 'She-Ra' Gains New, Non-Binary Character

The most recent season of the animated Netflix series "She-Ra and the Princesses of Power" dropped this past spring, but already the streaming service is preparing to present a whole new clutch of episodes - and they'll include a new, non-binary character, a shape-shifter called Double Trouble, reports Entertainment Weekly.
EW took note of how this new development fits right in with the series:
The Netflix animated series already has multiple gay and lesbian characters, in addition to characters of all skin tones. Now the hit show is welcoming its first non-binary character, which will be voiced by gender-nonconforming actor/author/activist Jacob Tobia.
Tobia, reported Gizmodo, is "a gender non-conforming writer, producer, and performer,"
Tobia appeared in a video on Twitter, where they shared the exciting news.

In the video, Tobia described Double Trouble as "a non-binary, shape-shifting mercenary," going on to quip: "So, functionally, I'm playing myself!"
Tobia went on to disclose that fantasy has "always been vital to me because as a non-binary person, it's a way of escaping the confines of the world we live in..."
News of the character had been shared earlier, at the San Diego Comic-Con, Gizmodo reported, though the choice of Tobia to play Double Trouble had been kept quiet.
Gizmodo recalled the show's contributions to bringing diversity to the air:
"She-Ra and the Princesses of Power" is known for its positive LGBTQ representation, and was even nominated for a GLAAD award this year (but lost to "Steven Universe").
The new season of "She-Ra and the Princesses of Power" premieres on Netflix Nov. 5.
