Watch: Despite Low Scores, Sean Spicer Continues to Survive on 'Dancing with the Stars'

Sean Spicer is continuing to pull through on "Dancing with the Stars" despite getting low scores from judges, who voiced their annoyance with the former press secretary to President Donald Trump.

Spicer has survived six rounds on the competition show even though he's earned the lowest scores from the judges over the last few weeks. What's keeping him alive is viewer votes, which factor into the overall score for the celebrities. More notably, he's been getting an endorsement from his former employer, President Trump, who has been taking time to tweet and urge people to vote for Spicer.

"Vote for Sean Spicer on Dancing with the Stars. He is a great and very loyal guy who is working very hard!" Trump tweeted, adding the hashtag #MAGA.

Yahoo's George Back recounts how the "DWTS" judges are not too pleased with the results:

While popularity has always been an important aspect of the game, it has primarily been about dancing. This is the first time a large group of voters, who don't necessarily watch the show, are entering the voter pool and it's frustrating long time fans.

The judges are also becoming more and more frustrated by Spicer's continued success, and it's showing in their critiques. After Spicer's performance tonight, head judge Len Goodman said, "We keep throwing you out the boat, and the viewers keep throwing you a life preserver." And since the theme of Spicer's dance was nautical, he added, "Your feet, well, the mermaid had better feet than you."

Judge Bruno Tonioli also blasted Spicer's dance, saying "I think Dory in Finding Nemo has a better sense of direction."

Back goes on to note how "judge Carrie Ann Inaba vented over the fact the worst dancer was not up for elimination."

"It's confusing for me at this point why these are the bottom two," she said. "I'm confused and a little irritated."

Inaba spoke with "Entertainment Tonight" about the results, which saw "The Office" star Kate Flannery get the boot.

"It's disappointing to see people go home like this week after week, and Sean is staying in, but it's always been a partnership between the judges and the people," she said. "That is what 'Dancing with the Stars' is. I can't get too mad, but yeah, I'm a little frustrated. I'm a lot frustrated."

Even Spicer's dancing partner Jenna Johnson for the night (Spicer's regular partner Lindsay Arnold was out for the night), was shocked that she and Spicer were safe.

"I was not expecting them to say our name first," she told "ET," adding she was "super proud" of Spicer.

Spicer also spoke with "ET" about surviving the night, saying he feels "humbled."

"I know what my scores were. I know how well the rest of the cast did, and to know that that many people outweighed that vote, it just means a ton," he said. "You stop and think once in a while, on a Monday night when everything else in the world in going on, you're making lunch for the kids, getting work done for the next day, whatever it is, and you stop and text and vote online for me on a show, it really means a lot.

"It's disrespectful to the people who are voting [to step out of the competition out of respect for other celebs' dancing abilities.]" he added. "It would be disrespectful to say, 'I'm going to walk away from you.'"

Elsewhere, even The New York Times offered an explainer as to how Spicer is still on the show despite poor dancing and bad scores from judges.
