One Day At Disney

If but for one day...
Walt Disney was a unique individual in that he always believed that if you imagined it, you can will it – whatever it is – into existence. He believed in this mantra and gave the world the most enchanting animating motion pictures, followed by a realized vision of his world with the Disney theme parks. Disney's vision will endure for generations, and through his work, he has inspired even more individuals to wish upon a star and follow their dreams. In the new feature-length documentary "One Day at Disney," that inspiration is examined.
Bob Iger has inherited the reigns of The Walt Disney Company, a multi-media conglomerate that today boasts connectivity to audiences across many spectrums, most notably (of course) film, through the success of its animated features and bolstering not one, but two, of the biggest blockbuster franchises in film – "Star Wars" and the Marvel Studios cinematic universe. With a resume that included work in network sports broadcasting, Iger's life existence took on a completely new dimension when he was tasked with running Disney's entertainment division.
With the advent of the new subscription service Disney+, Iger is capitalizing on the captive audience and fashioning series of content that promote the ideals of the man (or the myth) that is Walt Disney. In "One Day at Disney" the documentary reveals how mostly ordinary individuals (and some celebrities) have been inspired to aspire to something greater given their attachment to the Disney organization. For some, it was sitting in the darkened theater and experiencing their first animated movie; for others, it was walking in Disneyland.
Eric Goldberg draws Mickey Mouse for a living. He never thought he'd be good enough to work at Disney, but his persistence paid off. It wasn't long before Eric eventually caught the eye of the Disney animation recruiters, and before he knew it, Eric landed himself a position as a development animator on "Aladdin," which was then in development. Since then, Goldberg has become the torchbearer of the brand that is known throughout the world: Mickey Mouse.
Robin Roberts, co-anchor at "Good Morning America," has become a role model to everyone given her resilience and determination. As a celebrated reporter, she has faced world leaders and asked the hard questions, while battling for her life against cancer and for equal rights as one of the more prominent and out in the open members of the LGBTQ community. Robin shares her inspiring perspective in the documentary and connects it back to a life of living optimistically, and appreciative of every moment. Bob's, Robin's and Eric's stories are just a couple in the doc.
The premiere feature film documentary is the gateway to an upcoming 52-episode Original Documentary Series to follow very much in the vein of the stories shared, and released in conjunction with the project from Disney Publishing is a 224-page coffee table book that captures the spirit of the film in pictures and prose. Iger says it well: "Telling stories and inspiring people, proving over and over again the power of the imagination." is a bit of hope that we can all use. That bit of Disney magic we can all aspire to.
