A film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning LGBTQ musical "Fun Home" is in the works with Jake Gyllenhaal to produce and star, according to Broadway World.
Gyllenhaal will reportedly play Bruce Bechdel, the father of the musical's protagonist Alison Bechdel, who wrote "Fun Home." The film version will be directed by Sam Gold, who helmed the Broadway production.
"Fun Home" is based on Alison Bechdel's 2006 graphic memoir of the same name and was adapted for Broadway by Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori. It follows Alison Bechdel in three different stages of her life, revealing memories of her family, including her father.
In 2015, the musical was nominated for 10 Tony Awards, winning seven, including Best Musical, Best Book, Best Score, and Best Director.
