"American Idol" contestant Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon has made it to the top six on the singing competition show. For Queen week, he sang the band's iconic hit "Who Wants to Live Forever" to his parents. It's the first time they have appeared on the show, and Harmon previously disclosed that they've not accepted him for being gay.

After his moving performance, Harmon, who worked as a janitor at the church where his father served as pastor in Maryland, received positive remarks from the "American Idol" judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan.

"You really embodied the spirit of Freddie Mercury with that performance," Perry said. "It was like you froze time, it was so beautiful, it was so beautiful seeing you perform in front of your parents for the first time and it's so wonderful to see your journey."

Bryan added that Harmon continues "to spoil us."

"It was such an emotional ride and you have a real knack for that. It was a complete journey that built and built and built, and then you just took it to the next level. I loved every second of it," the country singer said.

Richie also showed support for the singer, saying he takes Queen "to the next level."

"That means you're really doing something powerful," he added. "Your voice is something to be reckoned with."

Host Ryan Seacrest spoke with Harmon's father about his son's Queen cover.

"That was very powerful, it's another great performance. I'm not very objective, but I think he's the best one here," he said.

Harmon made headlines earlier this month when he revealed his parents didn't accept him when he came out to them as gay.

"It has been a really difficult past few months for me," he said at the time. "My parents still have not been able to accept me being gay. I'm no longer working as a janitor at my dad's church.

"I decided to move out, and that was a difficult choice to make. I felt like it was the healthiest thing for me to do," he continued. "Being a part of this show has been good for me in one way, but it has also been a big challenge for me. I'm just being very public about my story, and it's causing a lot of change in my life right now."

He later added: "I want my parents to know that I love them no matter what." He went on to say, "I'm sorry for disappointing them and not turning out to be everything that they dreamed of."
