READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) found himself in a controversy this week when his official Twitter account "liked" a tweet that contained a hardcore porn video. After shifting the blame to an aide, who apparently "liked" the tweet that ended up in Cruz's followers' timelines, the failed GOP presidential candidate at down with CNN to discuss the drama and his views on masturbating and sex toys.

"It was not me. And it's not going to happen again," he said. "This was a screw up."

He also said his team has identified the staffer who liked the X-rated clip. When pressed as to reveal the staffer's identity, Cruz said, "I'm not going to out the fella...I'm not going to throw someone under the bus."

CNN reporter Dana Bash brought up the irony that Cruz once supported a Texas law that would have banned the sale of sex toys in the state. But it looks like Cruz has evolved on the issue and seems to be totally cool with you masturbating and using dildos!

"That's a good example of where the media runs with things that are totally false," he said.

After mansplaining what he did as Solicitor General of Texas (Cruz held this position from 2003 to 2008) to Bash, he called the law calling for the ban of sex toys "stupid," explaining he is "one of the most libertarian members of the Senate. I think it's idiotic."

"But it's an opportunity for knuckleheads in the media to claim, 'Oh, isn't this ironic that Cruz wants to ban these things.' No, I don't! People ought to be able to do what they want in their own bedrooms," Cruz added.

"I can't believe I'm going to ask you this," Bash said. "So you're officially saying Ted Cruz is OK with people buying sex toys?"

"I am saying consenting adults should be able to do whatever they want in their bedrooms," Cruz, who opposes both marriage equality and civil unions, responded. "The media and the left seem obsessed with sex. Let people do what they want!"
