Watch: Harry Styles Kicks Off Solo Tour by Waving LGBTQ Pride Flag

After releasing his self-titled debut album in May, Harry Styles is finally kicking off his tour - and did so by celebrating the LGBTQ community.

Styles, 23, performed in San Francisco and Los Angeles earlier this week, singing new songs off his album and even covering hits by Ariana Grande and One Direction, Entertainment Weekly reports. But the pop star got political for a moment and celebrated the LGBTQ community by taking to the stage with a rainbow Pride flag draped over his microphone. The moment came when he sang 1D's "What Makes You Beautiful."

Later on in the show, he waved the flag around the stage.

This isn't the first time Styles brought out the Pride flag. Back in 2014, he did so to show support for Michael Sam, who made headlines for being one of the first openly gay athletes to be drafted in the NFL, Pride.com reported at the time.

Earlier this year, the "Sing of the Times" singer appeared on a French talk show, where he discussed LGBTQ and women's rights.

"To me, anything that brings people together is better than things that pull people apart," he said.

The talkshow host told the singer, "Yet you're in favor of equal rights for men, women, gay people, straight people. That is politics."

"That doesn't feel politics to me. Stuff like equality feels much more fundamental," Styles responded. "I Feel like everyone is equal. That doesn't feel like politics to me."
