Gay Vallejo Vice Mayor Gary Cloutier, who was in Palm Springs last weekend while awaiting a potential electoral win in Vallejo's tight mayoral race, was arrested by police there and charged with suspicion of public intoxication and disorderly conduct early Sunday morning after allegedly staggering out of a bar and attempting to drive away.

SF Gay beach project nears completion
The oil spill fouling Bay Area beaches has not impeded progress on improvements to the city's gay beach. Crews continue to remove toxic landfill from the slopes above North Baker Beach, and parks officials expect to have work completed next month.
