PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO - (March, 2011) - At a celebrity-packed Oscar party, the Puerto Vallarta Beach Club raised $40,000 for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. The event, attended by such people as Sharon and Kelly Osborne and Clare Danes, was a $3,500-per-plate dinner and auction that is held each year to raise money for Elton John's charity. This year, the Puerto Vallarta Beach Club donated three of their villas at the club for four nights.

"We couldn't be happier with the amount of money raised from our villa donations, especially when it will go to such a great charity," explains Burt Hixson, co-owner of the Puerto Vallarta Beach Club (www.PuertoVallartaBeachClub.com), a new private boutique resort located on Los Muertos Beach. "It was also an amazing party, and Elton was wonderful!"

The Academy Awards Viewing Party was first started by Elton John in 1992, as a way to raise money for charity. In its first year, it raised $300,000, and had grown to $5.1 million by 2008. The funds raised go to support the charity's mission of supporting innovative HIV prevention programs, helping to end the stigma associated with having HIV/AIDS, and providing direct care and support to those living with it.

"This was a great fundraising opportunity for a great cause," adds Hixson. "We hope those who won the auction enjoy their stay at our resort and the time they spend visiting Puerto Vallarta."

The Puerto Vallarta Beach Club, a "green" boutique resort on the Mexican Riviera, opened in January 2010. It is located on the same private grounds as its sister resort, the famous Villa Verano, which recently celebrated its 25-year anniversary and has a 93 percent repeat-guest factor. They provide accommodations for families, individuals and business groups, in addition to hosting weddings and corporate retreats.
