The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Fourth Season

Christian Cintron READ TIME: 2 MIN.

"The Big Bang Theory" is unlike any show on television. Sitcoms are rarely this smart and unique. For those of you living under a rock, "Big Bang" follows four genius friends/co-workers and their attractive actress neighbor through slightly familiar sitcom scenarios. The writing and characters are so rich you can't help but laugh uproariously.

Sheldon Cooper (Emmy Winner Jim Parsons) is persnickety, anal-retentive and obscenely pompous. He is the constant bane of his roommate Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) and friends Howard (Simon Hedberg) and Raj (Kunal Nayyer). This season introduces a female counterpart in the form of Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik). Melissa Rauch also joins the cast as Howard's girlfriend Bernadette.

The fourth season expands the universe of these characters. We get to see Penny (Kaley Cuoco) have girlfriends in the form of Amy and Bernadette. There are many funny group outings and with a larger ensemble more opportunities for unique combinations. There is also the on-going question of will Penny and Leonard get back together with a shocking season finale.

The DVD includes a unique approach to the actor interview. Each disc features the actors interviewing each other about their experiences with filming, memorizing the notoriously complex dialogue and generally fun facts. It's fun to see their chemistry and how they interact off camera. There is also a gag reel that is enhanced by the presence of a studio audience that brings opportunities for bigger flubs.

Also included is a music video of the theme song by the Barenaked Ladies. There is also a making-of featurette that shows the band visiting the set and filming the video. It's a testament to how great the show is that the theme song gets expanded and given a music video.

"The Big Bang Theory" is still going strong with the same humor but now with a larger cast and more outrageous situations. This season takes the series to new heights and secures its place in television history.
