Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Subtlety is the name of the game in the Cold War spy drama "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy."

Nominated for three Academy Awards, "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" is just the second major film from director Tomas Alfredson whose credits also include the Swedish vampire film of recent popularity "Let The Right One In." With a talent for beautifully executed scenes and rich overall visual style, Alfredson takes us back to the early 1970's, deep within the walls of British Intelligence in this film adaptation of John le Carr's classic novel.

Gary Oldman shines as a tight-lipped British spy known as "Smiley" called out of retirement to help find a Soviet mole at the top of British Intelligence. Oldman is so good, so convincing, so subtle, that it's possible to forget that he's actually acting. If he were of age during the Cold War, he would have made a fine British Spy and no one would have been the wiser. Ultimately though, it's Oldman's supporting cast that breathes life into the film with the who-done-it heavy hitters of Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, John Hurt, Ciaran Hinds, and Toby Jones. Their unfathomable talent and recognizable faces bring out the humanity hidden just beneath the surface of this Cold War thriller.

The film is available in a Blu-Ray/DVD/UltraViolet combo pack, so you can watch at home or stream from iCloud to whatever gadgetry you have hidden in your camel hair topcoat. For more intel on the film, special features include interviews with cast, author, and director, as well as deleted scenes.

"Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" is a great film, but remember, you can't trust anyone. Nab your copy today and find out for yourself.
