Grand Opening of The Pavilion
EDGE READ TIME: 3 MIN.
After leading an intensive 18-month design and construction process, the Pavilion Nightclub, High Tea Deck, Welcome Bar, The Rack Gym, as well as the three retail offices that Pavilion houses, are now open to the public. The Pavilion is set to have its Grand Opening Week from July 1-7.
"We could not be more proud of our iconic new building, our management team, and the support we have received from the community in our rebuilding efforts," says Matthew Blesso.
"We invite everyone to join us for our Grand Opening Week to experience the most incredible nightlife experience Fire Island has ever seen" says Blesso Properties Asset Manager Constantino Papadakis.
The festivities kick off on Monday night with a VIP reception hosted by Matthew Blesso (CEO, Blesso Properties), Matthias Hollwich (co-founder, HWKN), and Jay Pagano (president, FIPPOA). A ceremony will be held to honor the individuals whose names are inscribed on the chandelier, which was graciously donated by Waterford crystal as an homage to the trademark chandeliers that hung in the old Pavilion. The names include individuals who have had a significant impact on the Pavilion, old and new. These include contest winner, Chris DeCarlo, whose account of his favorite personal Pavilion memory was picked out of hundreds to earn him a place amongst the group of 25 influencers. Robbie Leslie will DJ the earlier portion of the evening, with Michael Fierman and John Ceglia taking over the late night DJ duties.
The week will continue with top notch programming every night. Tuesday brings internationally renowned DJ, Tony Moran, with a special live performance from superstar vocalist, Deborah Cooper ("Do It Properly," "Live You All Over"). Wednesday will showcase the talents of Italian DJ, Phil Romano, with London-based Moto Blanco UK (2010 Pines Party DJ) playing Thursday. Friday night, New York favorite, Eddie Elias, takes over the DJ booth, with a special live performance by recording artist Sylvia Tosun, singing her new track, "Love is Love" in celebration of this monumental week in Marriage Equality. Saturday night will bring famed circuit DJ, Joe Gauthreax to the booth; and, finally on Sunday night, Mike Cruz will take the reins to get the island moving.
The opening week line-up, programmed by Entertainment Director, Tony Fornabaio, will also include loads of other entertainment and surprise performances and demonstrates the new sound of the Pines, which harkens back to a sexy, soulful time, while maintaining contemporary sonic relevance. The music and programming will align with the sensibility of this forward-thinking, state-of-the-art club, while celebrating all that made it iconic over the past three decades.
As most know, the Pines community was struck hard when a devastating fire burned the old Pavilion to the ground in 2011, and the rebuilding process has been painstaking.
"We knew we had an opportunity to rebuild the Pavilion even better than before, both aesthetically speaking and functionally speaking," explains Blesso.
The updated space includes a "Welcome Bar" on the first level that overlooks the harbor and will serve as a meeting place for residents and visitors. The dance club encompasses the building's second level, with a 2,000 square-foot dance floor, skylight, and stadium stairs that provide a birds-eye view of the action. The sound and lighting system, designed by the widely acclaimed industry leader, Dougie Lazer, will provide club-goers an unparalleled experience. The custom-designed speakers and over-the-top lighting arrangement, including Chauvet lighting fixtures and wall mounted LED strips, promise the nightly sensory overload that only the best clubs provide. A 2,760 square-foot outdoor terrace will host High Tea in the evenings, and double as an additional lounge at night.
