CHEYENNE, Wyoming - A Boy Scouts troop in Cheyenne is looking for a new home because of fallout from the organization's acceptance of openly gay members.

The First Congregational Church voted Dec. 8 not to renew the charter of Troop 102, which it has hosted since the 1950s. The church's pastor, the Rev. Kevin Frank, told the Wyoming Tribune Eagle that church members aren't happy to see the troop go but he said the decision was necessary to remain true to their faith.

The troop is part of the Longs Peak Council, which covers northern Colorado, southeastern Wyoming and western Nebraska. Council CEO John Coleman, Jr. said only about 5 of its 227 charter organizations have declined to renew charters because of the new policy. It takes effect Jan. 1.
