Kirk Cameron Slams Grammys, Plugs New Movie

Child actor turned Christian activist and full-time homophobe Kirk Cameron added his voice to the legions of religious right pundits incensed at Sunday night's Grammy Award performance of "Same Love" by Macklemore, where singer/actress and now wedding officiant Queen Latifah married 34 gay and straight couples.

The former "Growing Pains" star took to his Facebook on Monday to denounce the much talked about televised nuptials and to plug his new movie, "Mercy Rule" starring Cameron, his wife Chelsea and Christian comedian Tim Hawkins, best know to his fans for his "Chick-Fil-A" song.

The post, which drew over 1,700,000 likes and has since been deleted read:

How did you like the Grammy's all out assault on the traditional family last night? As a husband and father, I am proud to announce the release of my new family movie, MERCY RULE. Last night, the lines were drawn thick and dark. Now more than ever, we must work together to create the world we want for our children. I'm hoping that just as Fireproof restored marriages, MERCY RULE will strengthen families. [...]

Long gone from the mainstream spotlight, evangelical Christian, Cameron gained attention two years ago when during an interview with CNN's Piers Morgan he said that homosexuality was "unnatural" and "ultimately destructive." That and subsequent comments made by the former sitcom teen heartthrob was the inspiration for a "Funny Or Die" video titled "CCOKC - Child Celebrities Opposing Kirk Cameron" that featured several former child stars from the 80s.
