GOP Panel Ponders Gay Marriage in Indiana Platform

A key group of delegates to the Indiana Republican Party convention is taking a look at whether gay marriage should be addressed in the party's platform.

The party's 10-member resolutions committee planned to meet Friday afternoon to discuss that issue and others.

Social conservatives successfully pushed last month to formally oppose gay marriage in the party's platform. But opponents are leading a drive to remove the language from the platform during this weekend's convention in Fort Wayne.

If the resolutions committee decides to keep the marriage language in the platform, it would then head to consideration by all the delegates on Saturday.
