Demi Lovato's Pride Performance Irks Mother Russia

Pop star Demi Lovato riled up a number of Russians after her New York Pride performance on Sunday, Pink News reports.

During the show, two of her male backup dancers kissed on stage. One of the guys was practically naked wearing nothing but a picture of Russian President Vladimir Putin over his junk.

The dancers locked lips during the Lovato's performance of her latest single, "Really Don't Care."

Pink News reports that the "Heart Attack" singer has come under fire by Russian social media users who said the stunt was "disrespectful" and "unacceptable," saying Lovato should "leave politicians to deal with their countries' laws on their own."

The pop star responded to the criticisms, tweeting: "I never called anybody a piece of shit... But I did have Putin struttin' in a rainbow thong. Get your facts straight bitchesss. Yesterday was incredible. So happy. I love you @NYCPride!"

The official music video for "Really Don't Care," featuring U.K. singer Cher Lloyd, was filmed at Los Angeles Pride on June 8, where Lovato was a grand marshal.

"I realized the song kind of had this negative energy to it that's really not me," she told NewNowNext. "When it came time to record the music video, I thought, 'what's a way we can turn this into an empowering message?' It just so happened to fall on the timeline of Pride... so I said, why don't we just shoot it at Pride? It was one of the best days of my life."

Lovato made headlines last month when she revealed while taping a segment for Logo's TV Special "Trailblazers," which honors LGBT heroes, that her late grandfather was gay and that he came out in the 60s.

"I feel a lot of my spirit has come from him," she said. "I've never spoken about this before, but my grandfather was a trailblazer himself. He was brave enough to come out in the 1960s, and I feel a lot of my spirit has come from him."
