Queen of the Clouds
Kitty Drexel READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Swedish singer Tove Lo is also a popular songwriter in the UK and Sweden. "Queen of the Clouds" is a fun, danceable CD with heaps of hard edge. This album contains the bonus track "Habits (Stay High)" - Hippie Sabotage Remix from 2013. Rated NC-17 for curse words used as descriptors (not graphic expletives), drug references, violence references, and raw sexual energy.
This CD is quartered into the stages of a relationship: The Sex (the passionate emotions), The Love (the maturity), The Pain (the break up), For You (rememberance). There are spoken interludes between the stages that can be interpreted as informative or annoying, depending on one's preference.
"Like Em Young" is an addictive dance tune about dating someone who's too immature to suit society's standards (but legal to date). "Timebomb" is pithy account of a first impression that is both accurate and snarky. Tove Lo's breakout hit from 2013, "Habits (Stay High)," is not about a distracting emotional euphoria. Rather, it is about self-medicating with recreational drugs to cope with a bad breakup. The explicit version of this CD is not youth- or prude-friendly, but it will add to your night out or your dance off, pants off house party.
