The November Man
Kilian Melloy READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Don't let "The November Man" cool your interest in spy flicks. They can be awfully fun when done properly. Regrettably, between the ridiculous twists, laughable characterizations, and unconvincing action sequences, this is a film that almost perversely refuses to get it right -- despite (or, some might say, because of) starring former James Bond leading man Pierce Brosnan.
The EDGE review of the feature film will fill you in on the story, which is a mishmash of typical themes, with Brosnan's former CIA agent, Peter Devereaux, playing mentor / nemesis to younger agent David Mason (Luke Bracey) and protector to the innocent Alice (Olga Kurylenko), who has strayed into the crosshairs of a powerful candidate for the Russian presidency (Lazar Ristovski). The action unfolds internationally, if ham-handedly, with much of the film taking place in Belgrade.
This review, by contrast, is meant to focus on the special features. Unfortunately, the online "screener" did not include any. But here's a list of the extras that are scheduled to appear on the home release, which include several Blu-ray exclusives:
- Audio Commentary with director Roger Donaldson, Pierce Brosnan, and producer Beau St. Clair
- "Brosnan is Back!" featurette
- "Bringing Belgrade to the Big Screen" featurette
- "The Making of The November Man" featurette
- Theatrical Trailer
