PopUps: Frank Ocean Can't Change Name Because of Driving Tickets

A judge recently denied R&B superstar Frank Ocean, born Christopher Breaux, from changing his name to Frank Ocean because of the number speeding tickets the singer has racked up in Los Angeles.TMZ reports.

In March, the "Thinkin' Bout You" singer applied to legally change his name to his stage name but between then and now, the singer managed to get a ton of speeding tickets. TMZ reports he got three tickets in three months.

He was ticketed for having expired insurance in June, driving with his headlights off in July and for going 31 miles per hour over the speed limit in August.

Ocean's license was also suspended a few times after he reportedly missed some court dates. Because of that, the judge refused to hear the singer's request to change his name until he works on fixing his driving record. Once things look better in that department, Ocean can reapply.

Besides the driving drama, Ocean, who shot to stardom for his debut album "Channel Orange" and for revealing on Tumblr in 2012 that he was once in love with another man, has been tied up with other legal battles.

In March Chipotle Mexican Grill sued him after the fast food company paid him an advance for a commercial that Ocean backed out of because the singer took issue with the material in the advertisement.

Page Six also reported this month that Ocean, Jay Z and Kanye West were all being sued over their jam "Made in America." In a federal lawsuit, recording artist Joel Mac says one of his songs was ripped off and is looking for a portion of the profits from the song.
