Debunked 'Ex-Terrorist' Claims Radical Islam Leads to Gay Rights

Pay no attention to reports of gay men being thrown off buildings by ISIS; a self-purported "ex-terrorist" is claiming that radical Islam leads to gay rights and more.

Right Wing Watch reports Walid Shoebat, a man who has built his career as a "terrorism expert" around an unsubstantiated claim that he was a former terrorist himself, spoke with radio host Joe Miller last week about Islamists in the Middle East who are bringing an anti-Christian tyranny that will lead to "homosexual rights" and "rights to cannibalism."

"The Islamification process is not just the idea of making it difficult for Christians like you see in the Palestinian arena," Shoebat said. "Now it's really transforming into something more. In other words, tyranny begins at that stage, in which tyranny wants to basically bring in homosexual rights, pretty soon it will be rights to cannibalism, rights to polygamy, rights to [etc.] And that's how tyrannies work. It's not just Islamo-tyranny, but any tyranny, this is how it works."

A Palestinian-American who converted from Islam to Christianity, Shoebat claims to have been a former terrorist working for the Palestinia Liberation Organization, during which time he claims to have fire bombed a Bank Leumi in Bethlehem in the late 1970's. A 2008 Jerusalem Post article raised questions about the validity of his claim and noted that Bank Leumi had no record of an attack on their Bethlehem branch between 1977 and 1979. Claims by Shoebat that he spent time in an Israeli jail were debunked in 2011 when CNN's Anderson Cooper reported that Israel had no record he was ever jailed.

In 2014 the Advocate reported Shoebat's son Ted, himself an anti-gay activist, made headlines for claiming discrimination when bakers refused to make a cake with the words "Gay Marriage is Wrong."
