PopUps: Sarah Paulson to Return to 'American Horror Story: Hotel'
Jason St. Amand READ TIME: 2 MIN.
"American Horror Story" showrunner Ryan Murphy confirmed on Twitter Monday that Sarah Paulson, who has appeared on all four seasons of the FX anthology series, would return for the upcoming fifth season subtitled "Hotel."
Paulson playing "the baddest girl of them all" would be a switch from the characters she's played in the last four seasons, who, for the most part, have been heroes. As the Hollywood Reporter points out, Paulson has starred in three of the four seasons of "AHS" and earned an Emmy nomination for her lead role in "American Horror Story: Coven."
Paulson is also starring on the upcoming Murphy-produced FX anthology series "American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson," where she'll play prosecutor Marcia Clark, which is set to debut this summer.
Since the announcement, Paulson has responded to being cast on "Hotel" on Twitter:
Before she was cast on both "AHS" and "ACS," the 40-year-old out actress had this to say about being cast:
"My focus will always be on 'American Horror Story' for as long as he'll have me," she told the Hollywood Reporter in December. "I have never felt so completely seen by another director or producer or person before in terms of his willingness time and time again to give me something to do that I didn't even think I was capable of doing. I don't know why in the world I'd want to go elsewhere when I'm getting the best deal in town. I absolutely want to do season five."
Paulson will join "AHS" veteran Kathy Bates, who Murphy recently revealed will also be on the show. Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Chloe Sevigny, Wes Bentley and Cheyenne Jackson will also star on "Hotel," which is set to air in October. This will be the first season without leading lady, Jessica Lange.
The fate of Evan Peters, another "AHS" vet, who, like Paulson, has been on all four seasons of "AHS," is still unknown.
