Sentencing for Pedophile Gay Porn Star Delayed
EDGE null READ TIME: 4 MIN.
The sentencing for a gay porn star, who was found guilty on three felony charges in a child sex case, has been delayed after he fired his lawyer, (NSFW) Str8UpGayPorn.com reports.
Chris Steele, who is HIV-positive and performed in bareback films under the name Mike Dozer, was arrested in December 2013 in Delaware. He was charged with statutory rape, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse and aggravated assault for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy he met in Montgomery County, Pa. via a gay hookup app.
In October, Steele, 34, was found guilty by a United States District Court on three felony charges in his involvement with the minor. Str8UpGayPorn reports those charges are: use of an interstate commerce facility to entice a minor to engage in sexual conduct, interstate travel with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor and receipt of child pornography.
It took the jury less than 12 hours to deliberate after a three-day trail. Str8UpGayPorn notes Steele will serve a minimum of 25-years in prison but faces a lifetime sentence.
Steele will also face a separate trial in the state of Pennsylvania, which has been pushed back to May 27. The state charged Steele with more than a dozen felonies and misdemeanors, including statutory rape.
The porn actor filed a motion for an appeal for his federal case, but it was denied. In the brief, it was revealed that the teen testified at the trial. The court documents also mention Paul Gavin Britton, said to be Steele's former boyfriend, who was also charged in the case, but committed suicide before the trail began.
Steele's sentencing was supposed to take place on April 14 but it was delayed likely because of Steele's motion for a new lawyer. Str8UpGayPorn posted a handwritten letter Steele wrote, where he fires his lawyer, Kevin Mark Wray, and accuses him of lying.
According to court records, Steele has been appointed a new attorney and a rescheduled date will be announced in the coming days.
At the time of his arrest, police said Steele met the teen via the gay hookup app Jack'D. The porn star allegedly drove to the teen's house in Pennsylvania in 2013 and allegedly forced him to take poppers and then had sex with him. Police also claim Steele knew the teen was underage and say Steele and the victim exchanged naked photos of each other before they met. Str8UpGayPorn notes it's unclear if the teen reported the alleged assault on his own or if police had been monitoring Steele beforehand.
Wray argued at the time that the porn star did not know the victim was underage and assumed he was 18. Jack'D users have to be 18 or older to use the app. Steele's then-attorney also said when his client realized the teen was underage, he attempted to end relations with him.
Steele, who has been HIV-positive for about seven years, made waves in the gay porn world when he vocally supported bareback sex and opposed condoms by wearing a t-shirt that read, "condoms are for pussies." Str8UpGayPorn notes he performed in a bareback scene for CocksureMen.com, but also performed in scenes with Raging Stallion and Falcon Studios with condoms. ManHuntDaily.com wrote a scathing article about Steele's barebacking scene, which you can read here.
Gay porn index website, Al's Gay Porn Stars, writes Steele a "muscle bear" and has a quote from him explaining how he got his start in the adult film industry.
"A friend of mine asked if I bottomed, I said, 'Occasionally.' His curiosity to see me bottom is kinda how it started," he said. "One day he called and said it was all lined up and all I had to do was email Dark Alley and it was a done deal."
Steele has been updating his (NSFW) Twitter account throughout the trial process.
