Disney Classic Gets a Gay Makeover in YouTube Video
EDGE null READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Los Angeles' gay enclave West Hollywood is the location for viral video maven Todrick Hall's latest lovingly skewered adaptation.
In his latest video, Hall takes on the Disney classic "Beauty and the Beast" featuring RuPaul, Lance Bass, Ross Matthews, Frankie Grande and a bevy of other YouTube celebrities.
"Beauty and the Beat Boots" also stars YouTube celebrity Colleen Ballinger (aka Miranda Sings) as Belle. In the clip, she traverses through WeHo, buying a gay skin mag, dodging anti-gay protesters, and unknowingly suffering the insults of drag queens who sing "she really is a basic fish Miss Belle."
"I've wanted to do this video for a while now, but I didn't think we could Top, no pun intended, our last Beauty and the Beast parody," wrote Todrick Hall. "I hope that you guys thoroughly enjoy this as much as we enjoyed making it for you."
Todrick Hall first came to national attention as a semi-finalist in the ninth season of "American Idol." Since then, he has become a YouTube superstar with over 1.4 million followers on his channel. In 2014, he was featured in Forbes Magazine's "Top 30 under 30" in the Hollywood category.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Hall's next video will be "Titanic" inspired and will feature pop superstar Ariana Grande.
