'South Beach on Heels' Available on Vimeo On-Demand

"South Beach on Heels," the multi-award-winning feature-length documentary chronicling the lives of drag queens and transgender individuals who populate the clubs and nightlife scene of the vibrant South Beach landscape, is now available to the public on Vimeo on-demand.
Directed by the award-winning filmmaker Dmitry Zhitov, "South Beach on Heels" has become a favorite on the film festival circuit over the past year, winning 12 awards at festivals throughout the world. The film is available for download or two-day viewing at https://vimeo.com/ondemand/southbeachonheels.
"'South Beach On Heels' follows the onstage, backstage and offstage lives of eight hard working drag and trans entertainers," says Zhitov. "My film explores the fascinating and amazing people behind the make-up, jewels and wigs. Through the film, moviegoers learn what it takes to stay tough as nails in an industry built on big hair, big dreams and illusion."
At the heart of the film, Zhitov says, are messages of hope, tolerance and acceptance. Hope to someone in a small town to give him or her the strength to be who they are. Tolerance for the kaleidoscope of diversity embodied by the characters in the film. And acceptance of those who are courageous enough to be true to themselves.
"The diversity of the characters in the film mirrors the diversity of the drag and trans communities we encounter in our everyday lives," he says.
"South Beach on Heels" debuted at the 2014 Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and has since traveled the world winning awards at every festival appearance. Now that the film is available to the public, Zhitov still plans to enter the film in other festivals and it has been accepted for screenings in France at the St. Tropez International Film Festival and in Germany at the Transgender Film Festival. In addition to festivals, "South Beach on Heels" is being screened around the country as a fundraising event for charities, including at the upcoming Sioux Falls, SD, Pride Weekend to raise money for the AIDS Walk Benevolence Fund.
