Finger Lickin' Vermin: KFC Allegedly Served Deep Fried Rat
EDGE null READ TIME: 2 MIN.
Call it "finger lickin' vermin" or a serving of "extra crunchy rodent," but an image of what appears to be a deep fried rat that was allegedly served by Kentucky Fried Chicken to a California man has gone viral on social media, leaving consumers concerned and the fast food giant scrambling for an explanation.
Devorise Dixon, 25, took to his Facebook page to post an image of a rat in KFC's signature extra crispy coating that he claims was served to him by the popular fast food chain. Worse yet, according to Dixon, he ate part of the alleged rodent before discovering the mistake.
"It was very nasty. I spit it out," Dixon told "The Randy Economy Show" on radio station AM870. "I looked down at my hand and I realized that it was in the shape of a rate with a tail and everything in it."
According to Dixon's post, he claims to have spoken with the manager at the KFC about his meal.
"WENT BACK TO KFC YESTERDAY AND SPOKE TO THE MANAGER SHE SAID IT IS A RAT AND APOLOGIZED, IT'S TIME FOR A LAWYER!!! BESAFE DON'T EAT FAST FOOD !!!," he wrote on Facebook.
"They actually just offered me a free meal," he told AM870.
All of this has posed a public relations disaster for the fried food franchise, who claim that Dixon has been uncooperative in resolving the matter. They further assert that the alleged extra crispy rodent may have been oddly shaped poultry.
"KFC has made various attempts to contact this customer, but he is refusing to talk to us directly or through an attorney," a KFC representative wrote on social media. "Our chicken tenders often vary in size and shape, and we currently have no evidence to support this allegation. We have extended the opportunity to have an independent lab evaluate the product at our own expense, but the customer refuses to provide the product in question."
