Watch Jimmy Kimmel's Hilarious Segment on Kids' Thoughts on Gay Marriage
EDGE null READ TIME: 1 MIN.
How do you explain same-sex marriage to kids? Don't bother, they already know.
One of the lingering questions asked by opponents of same-sex marriage has long been "how am I going to explain this to my kids?" In the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel set out to find out what kids think and know about same-sex marriage.
Early in the video segment a little bespectacled girl said that gay marriage was "when two men and two women get married." When asked if it was when four people got married, the child laughed and said "no," putting to bed the argument that gay marriage would lead to polygamy.
A little boy interviewed was asked "when should two people get married?" His response, "in the afternoon."
Another little boy defined gay marriage as "when a boy marries another boy." When asked what it was called when a girl married another girl, he replied "lesbianism."
