Calling His Campaign a 'Side Show', Huff Post Covers Trump as 'Entertainment'

Hey Donald Trump! See ya in the funny papers!

The Huffington Post announced Friday that while they still plan to report on Donald Trump's 2016 bid for the GOP presidential nomination, his campaign will not be part of the online news outlet's political coverage. Instead, they will put all Trump-related news in their Entertainment section.

"Our reason is simple:" said Huff Po's Editorial Director Danny Shea in a statement also signed by Washington bureau chief Ryan Grim. "Trump's campaign is a sideshow. We won't take the bait. If you are interested in what The Donald has to say, you'll find it next to our stories on the Kardashians and 'The Bachelorette'."

Trump's slam Friday by the Huffington Post is the latest in a series of public denouncements of the billionaire real estate mogul turned political dilettante.

Since making his now infamous comments about Mexican immigrants in his unscripted June 16 campaign kick-off speech in which he said "They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people," Trump has seen a number of his key corporate affiliations break ties with him. NBC, Univision, ESPN, NASCAR, Macy's, Serta, PGA and the Federal Aviation Administration are but a few of the many who have publicly denounced The Donald.

And while Trump may have fallen out of favor with many of his former media and corporate associates, his controversial message on immigration is resonating with Republican primary voters. According to the latest Fox News poll, Trump leads the pack of 15 presidential hopefuls with 18 percent. He is closely followed by career politicians Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker at 15 percent and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 14 percent.
