White supremacists got a hefty dose of musical mockery last weekend when a sousaphone player followed a group of bigots protesting the removal of the Confederate Flag, all the while accompanying them with a tune usually reserved for circus clowns.

On Saturday, members of the North Carolina-based Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan held a rally at the South Carolina Statehouse in Columbia to protest the removal of the Confederate flag.

The KKK rally was countered on the other side of the Statehouse by a rally organized by the Florida-based Black Educators for Justice.

CBS News reported that several members of the white supremacist crowd carried the Confederate flag along the margin of the crowd at the black educators rally.

The two groups were involved in a number of skirmishes which led to the arrest of five people. At one point, police stopped a group of protesters from burning the Confederate flag.

According to Daily Dot, as the situation grew more tense, a local musician attempted to defuse the situation by following the KKK protesters down the street and accompanying their hate rally with the soundtrack of a comical tune.

The event was captured on cell phone video and posted to YouTube where it has been viewed over one million times.
