The Tenderloins

The hot California desert got a little bit hotter last week as it welcomed in popular comedy troupe The Tenderloins. Better known as the Impractical Jokers from the truTV show of the same name, these four comedians opened up their "Where's Larry" tour with a sold-out show to thousands at the San Manuel Casino.

Dressed in somewhat messy street clothes, the guys delivered laugh after laugh and had the room in hysterics during their entire hour and a half set. And whether it was a mixture of alcohol or simply just hilarious material, there were a number of fans literally falling out of their chairs with laughter -- I've never seen anything like it before.

The Impractical Jokers are Brian "Q" Quinn, Salvatore "Sal" Vulcano, Joseph "Joe" Gatto and James "Murr" Murray. truTV picked up their show back in 2011 and it is still going strong today. "Impractical Jokers" is basically the four guys daring each other to do embarrassing things to unsuspecting people. Whatever the gag happens to be, they must complete it or face being the "loser" and getting punished at the end. The punishments, while hilarious to the viewer, are painstakingly torturous for them.

This all may sound a bit juvenile, and really, it is... but who wouldn't want to see a grown man hanging from a rope in a piata costume while his friends take swings at him to release candy for a group of eager people? Or someone being injected with large doses of Novocain minutes before he has to do a cooking and tasting demo to a room full of student chefs? It's all a little bit ridiculous, and a whole lot of wrong, but the end result is simple comedy gold.

Currently, when the Jokers are not filming their show on weekdays in New York, they are off touring the country on the weekends with a live stage show full of personal stories, never-before-seen footage, behind-the-scenes videos and just a lot of poking fun at each other. The show covered Q's erotic obsession with Betty White, an unfortunate bathroom accident Murr experienced in a hotel parking lot, Joe's chance encounter with Jaden Smith (whose face he has tattooed on his inner thigh as a result of a lost challenge) and Sal's lovely nieces, who recently encountered the "B" word. These bits, along with countless others, had the room in stitches since the very beginning, proving that the foursome's comedic ability can thrive on and off the screen.

The thing I like most about the Impractical Jokers is the chemistry they have with each other. Childhood pals, it is obvious their friendship is sincere, and while they make a living embarrassing one another, you can feel the love and respect they have for one another. That kind of friendship and chemistry can't be faked, and theirs is one that is enviable.

I was surprised to see such a diverse group of fans at the show. While their humor is a bit mature for anyone under the age of 18, it doesn't seem cut off at any particular age. There were hundreds of fans in their "golden years" who were cheering, laughing and snapping photos along with the younger crowd. I guess this just proves that watching a grown man devour a piece of dog feces is comedy for the ages.

The Impractical Jokers will be making their way back to Los Angeles on October 23 at the Nokia Theatre, I highly recommend you check them out. Go for the guaranteed laughs that are simply side-splitting, and to see four great, easygoing guys lovingly poke fun at each other all night. They'll make you feel like you're in on the fun, and after spending a few minutes with them you'll realize there's no place you'd rather be.

"truTV's Impractical Jokers 'Where's Larry?' Tour" will play on Oct. 23 at Club Nokia, 800 West Olympic Blvd in Los Angeles. For information or tickets, visit www.thetenderloins.com.
