The Exorcism Of Molly Hartley

Ken Tasho READ TIME: 1 MIN.

When Linda Blair makes her next local horror convention appearance, I'm going to bring a copy of the Blu-ray "The Exorcism of Molly Hartley" and ask her if she's flattered by yet another carbon copy of the role she made famous in 1973. A viewing of this latest devil possession movie made my head spin around, mostly with genuine laughter and not terror.

The unrated "The Exorcism of Molly Hartley" is an 8-year follow-up to "The Haunting of Molly Hartley." Has anyone seen that 2008 film? Anybody? I certainly missed it but apparently in that movie, Molly (Sarah Lind) made an unknown pact with the devil, which naturally warranted a 2015 sequel.

Molly's now a 24-year-old party girl who, at the beginning of the film, ends up in an Ecstasy-induced three-way; her two sexual partners end up dead the next morning. She's transported to the local asylum where it's discovered (gulp!) that she's possessed by the devil.

I'm sure from knowing the title of the film that you can figure out where the ending leads... at least there's eye candy to enjoy regarding the performance of Devon Sawa, who plays the exorcist in this film.

If you decide to purchase or rent the redundant "Exorcism of Molly Hartley", here's what you'll get special features-wise:

"Exorcism: Beyond One Truth" -- tries to present facts about exorcism rituals but ends up as another tried-and-true documentary about devil possession.

"Clovesdale Institute" -- features alternate footage from the film's asylum scenes.

"Director Diaries" -- shows behind-the-scenes footage from the set.
