Tales From The Crypt Presents: Bordello Of Blood
Ken Tasho READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Shout Factory's second of two "Tales From the Crypt" film releases exceeds expectations in terms of sheer entertainment and campiness.
"Tales From the Crypt Presents: Bordello of Blood" fizzled at the box office in 1996, causing any planned sequels in the Cryptkeeper tales from getting made. It's a shame because this installment has all the requisite tropes that made the HBO series so much fun: blood, boobs, and bedlam. And the setting at a bordello ramps up the silliness.
But what were the filmmakers thinking casting comedian Dennis Miller in the starring role? At least "Bordello of Blood" also stars Chris Sarandon, Corey Feldman ("The Goonies"), and even Whoopi Goldberg shows up in a brief cameo.
Miller has the wisecracking role of a detective sent to a bordello to investigate a series of local disappearances. He finds that the maven of the whorehouse heads up a coven of female vampires.
Brand new special features get tacked onto Scream Factory's must-have Blu-ray. The 35-minute retrospective called "Tainted Blood: The Making of Bordello of Blood" interviews Feldman, Angie Everhart, and Erika Eleniak, all a pleasure to listen to as they tell tales from the set.
Also new to the Blu-ray are an audio commentary with co-writer and producer A.L. Katz, a video promo, a still gallery, and "Bordello of Blood's" theatrical trailer. Nice job once again Scream Factory.
