'The Grinder' Star Rob Lowe Makes Fake Grindr Ad

READ TIME: 1 MIN.

Rob Lowe, the star of Fox's new comedy "The Grinder," stopped by "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Wednesday night to promote his show and also poke fun of its title.

Lowe debuted a new commercial for the gay dating app that happens to share the show's name, Grindr.

"Every Tuesday night millions of Americans are watching 'The Grinder' alone," Lowe said in the ad. "Imagine having to laugh out loud nonstop for 30 minutes straight all by yourself. But now imagine you don't have to thanks to this very cool app I discovered called Grindr."

For those who don't know what Grindr is, the actor explains.

"Grindr is a neat networking app that lets guys who like watching 'The Grinder' connect with other guys in their area who also like watching 'The Grinder,' so they can meet up to watch 'The Grinder,' " he said. "How fun is that?!"

Lowe eventually found a guy with whom he could watch his show.

"Oh this guy's DTF," Lowe said "So am I! Definite television fan."

When the guy showed up, it was evident the two had different intentions, but Lowe still got to watch "The Grinder" with him.

The ad comes after Lowe spoke with Vulture about the comedy's title sharing the same name with the gay hookup app.

"Oh, this is my favorite thing!" Lowe said. "News flash: We're being funny on purpose. You can all rest easy."
