Marvel's Ant-Man

The Marvel Comics cinematic universe continues to grow by leaps in bounds - from the highest skyscrapers of Manhattan to the neither regions of the Outer Rim - the publishing imprint has redefined the superhero film genre. For its latest release, the next act in an episodically expansive universe that has laid claimed to the summer movie blockbuster season, the studio decidedly took a different approach and looked inward into its microverse.

"Marvel's Ant-Man" starring the multi-talented Paul Rudd in the title role is proof that good things do come in little packages (or in this case the 5x6 plastic case of a Blu-ray case). Based on one of the tentpole heroes characters in the Marvel Comics universe, the original Ant-Man is actually one of the founding members of the mighty Avengers. In this film adaptation, Rudd plays high-tech thief Scott Lang, who's just been released from prison and turning a new leaf.

That is until a wealthy industrialist with ties to the spy agency S.H.I.E.L.D. decides to recruit Lang for one final heist. Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) wants Scott to steal a special suit that will give him the powers of the "Ant-Man." Scott will be able to shrink to micro-size (but gain super-strength), he'll also be able to communicate with ants, and become the newest (though tiniest) superhero on the block.

With the help of Hym and his daughter (Evangeline Lilly) Scott takes on a major corporate take-over from a madman who wants to turn Pym's technology into a weapon to the highest bidder! Steeped in everything that has made its predecessors hit films, "Ant-Man" outsizes the competition in sheer fun! It's a caper movie with plenty of personality, and all of the action that you'd expect from a blockbuster, but it has heart 3 sizes too big to contain all the fun!
