Sinister 2
Ken Tasho READ TIME: 1 MIN.
The original "Sinister" made me feel like I needed to take a long, clean shower after viewing.
That same feeling didn't happen while viewing "Sinister 2", a somewhat unnecessary (but thoroughly entertaining) sequel that luckily doesn't focus on the hard-to-watch snuff films that permeated the original.
The evil spirit known as Bughuul comes back to haunt a new set of victims, this time at a spooky rural farmhouse. Shannyn Sossamon ("Wayward Pines," "The Rules of Attraction") plays an overprotective mother of twin boys, one of whom gets visited by those dastardly children spirits from the first film.
After subjecting him to snuff film viewings, the twin conjures up Bughuul, wisely kept in shadows in "Sinister 2" causing a spooky movie-going experience.
"Sinister" seems a bit redundant and almost like a remake of the first film; that is, until actor James Ransone shows up and is lovingly billed as "Ex-Deputy So and So" in the film's credits.
Universal continues its downward spiral with less than stellar bonus features:
"Extended Kill Films"
"Deleted Scenes"
"Time to Watch Another: The Making of Sinister 2" -- this 9-minute making of feature should've been longer and more involving.
"Feature Commentary with Director Ciaran Foy"
"Sinister 2"
