Kim Davis Reviews Obama's SOTU Address: 'It Was a Speech'

READ TIME: 1 MIN.

Kim Davis may not necessarily be able to pick out an appropriate outfit, but she can definitely identify a noun.

Following the State of the Union address Tuesday night, where Kim Davis was in attendance, the defiant Kentucky County Clerk was approached by Agency France-Press for her comments on President Barack Obama's final yearly address.

"It was a speech," Davis said.

According to CNN, Davis, who attended in red, white and blue patterns and stripes, thanks to a ticket secured by the anti-gay hate group Family Research Council from Tea Party-backed Republican Congressman Jim Jordan of Ohio, told AFP's Ivan Couronne that she came to Washington to provide "encouragement" to "all Christians."

Although a statement released Tuesday by the anti-gay hate group Liberty Counsel said their founder, Mat Staver, would accompany Davis to the State of the Union address, there was no sign of him in the House chamber during the speech.

Davis' lack of enthusiasm over the president's address is hardly surprising. During his one hour speech, he made numerous references to the LGBT community.

Following 2015, the year the United States Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage, Obama touted the advances America has made under his administration to secure "the freedom in every state to marry the person we love."

The Rowan County clerk was jailed in September for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples after a historic U.S. Supreme Court ruling legalized gay marriage nationwide. She claimed she was acting under "God's authority."
