'My Latino Gay Wedding' at Flamingo Theater Bar in Brickell
Mike Halterman READ TIME: 2 MIN.
The Flamingo Theater Bar (The Four Ambassadors Building, 801 Brickell Bay Dr., Miami) presents a unique comedy full of family, misunderstandings, love, and of course, laughs! This show is called "My Latino Gay Wedding" and it will have its premiere at the Flamingo Theater at 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 14. A limited engagement, this show will be performed every Sunday at 6 p.m. through March 6.
Let me set the scene: two guys who have just met are ready to get married. Wait, if they've just met, why do they want to get married so soon? Let me tell you a little about them. Sean, an Anglo-American who only speaks English, desperately wants to bed his husband and figures the best way to do that is to make an honest man of him. Then there's Fernando, a Latino who only speaks Spanish, who wants to get married so he can get his green card, and has kept Sean at arm's length because he is not gay. Cut to the night of the wedding, and the cat jumps out of the bag! This show promises to make you laugh and cry (from all the funny jokes!).
Vicente Albarracin is the writer and director of "My Latino Gay Wedding." Producers are Paola Jimenez and Heli Berti. Actor and singer Gabriel Coronel tackles his first "gay" role as he plays Fernando. Robert Moore, Jr. plays Sean. Also in the production are well-known TV and movie actors in the Spanish-language world: Gabriela Vergara as Sean's sister, Franklin Virguez and Elba Escobar as Fernando's parents, Cesar Muoz as the officiant, and Telemundo actress Daniella Navarro as Fernando's girlfriend. Judith Bishop, well-known in Florida's English-speaking theater scene, will also star, as Sean's grandmother.
This is a bilingual production, but you will be sure to enjoy yourselves whether you speak only English or English and Spanish. Tickets are on sale right now via the website readytotickets.com. General admission costs $35 per person and private VIP tickets cost $45 per person; the VIP tickets entitle you to share drinks and wedding cake with the cast after the show.
