College Student's X-Rated Cucumber Reply to Kanye Tweet Goes Viral
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Twitter is weird.
Kanye West has been very active on Twitter in the days leading up to his Madison Square Garden event Thursday, where the rapper debuted his Yeezy Season 3 fashion line, which doubled as a listening party for his latest album "The Life of Pablo." On Feb. 9, West went on a classic Kanye West rant, which included tweets about his sister-in-law Kylie Jenner's deal with Puma and a controversial tweet about Bill Cosby.
"BILL COSBY INNOCENT !!!!!!!!!!" West wrote to his 18.6 million followers with no explainable reason.
Though his take is ridiculous, something even more bizarre was birthed from the lame message: A naughty and gross tweet from a college student that, thanks to West's huge Twitter platform, ended up going viral, being retweeted 3,200 times and favorited over 5,000 times.
New York magazine reached out to the Twitter user behind the message, whose name is Rick (@okokzayn). He's reportedly a college student from Colombia and spoke with Max Read (Gawker's former editor-in-chief) via Twitter's direct messaging.
Read asked Rick what he expected from his x-rated tweet:
"Nothing, LOL," he wrote. "Just 20 RTs [retweets]."
Read wrote Rick also earned 600 new followers and a massive amount of responses after his cucumber tweet went viral.
"Most told me that I need Jesus and 'WTF that's disgusting,'" Rick wrote. "A lot of guys DMed me this: 'You can do whatever you want with my cucumber.'" According to Twitter's metrics, the tweet has been seen 1 million times, Read wrote.
