Iris House Observes Natl. Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

EDGE READ TIME: 4 MIN.

Thursday, March 10 is National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day and Iris House has teamed up with two amazing women-focused organizations, Voces Latinas and the Caribbean Women's Health Association to bring a number of special testing and education programs to our communities throughout New York and New Jersey!

More than 226,000 women, 80 percent of whom are between 15 and 44, are living with HIV in the United States. One in 4 people living with HIV in the United States is female. African-Americans made up 60 percent of new HIV infections among women, despite being only 14 percent of the female population of the U.S. Hispanic women make up 16 percent of the new infections among women in the U.S.

You can help bring down the numbers of new infections and provide support for women living with HIV by making a gift to Iris House today. More than 75 percent of our clients living with HIV in 2014 were virally suppressed, and we are well on our way to beating that number this year!

You can help us end this epidemic by knowing your status and helping your sisters, daughters, mothers and friends to learn more!
