The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2

Back in 2012, MGM released the premiere high-definition Blu-ray of the sequel to the classic "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." While pretty much reviled upon its release in 1986, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2" now has garnered the inevitable cult following it so deserves. Shout Factory now offers up a Collector's Edition of the film, boasting a much improved upon HD transfer and a slew of extras.

The first sequel in the long-running "Texas Chainsaw" series turned off fans initially due to its focus on wacky humor and over-the-top gore. It actually benefits the film, as director Tobe Hooper only wanted to make a sequel if it was the polar opposite of the original film. He definitely succeeded.

The 2016 Blu-ray of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2," courtesy of the Scream Factory imprint, blows away the 2012 edition in terms of film quality and extras. Four of the previous MGM special features come as extras on disc two of this release:

"Feature Commentary with Tobe Hooper"
"Feature Commentary with Bill Mosely, Caroline Williams, and the special effects team"
"The Cutting Room Floor" - deleted scenes
"It Runs in the Family" - an 85-minute retrospective

On disc one, a brand new 2K scan of the interpositive can be viewed. This improved upon version gets rid of the grain and dreary color schemes seen in the film's original HD transfer (which can also be watched on disc two).

Also on disc one are brand new special featurettes:

"House of Pain" - interviews the special effects team
"Yuppie Meat" - a talk with the two actors who appear in the film's infamous prologue
"Cutting Moments" - an interview with film editor Alain Jakubowicz
"Behind the Mask - the stuntman that plays Leatherface gets interviewed
"Horror's Hallowed Grounds" - another edition of the featurette which goes to the film's original shooting locations.
