Is Zach Miko the First Plus-Size Male Model?

Zach Miko is making headlines this week after signing to IMG Models under the agency's new plus-size division, Brawn, Fox411 reports.

Miko, 26, became a modeling sensation last year after becoming the first plus-size male model for Target.

"Modeling has changed my life," he told the news station. "Modeling never was even thought of as an option. It wasn't even a conceivable notion. My biggest focus in modeling is to try to make it available to anyone who loves it. The men's industry is definitely playing catch up with women's industry as far as diversity and inclusion goes."

IMG Models' president Ivan Bart told WWD that Brawn represents physical strength and sends a positive message about body types.

"The body positive messaging and size diversity is something that's relevant and something that continues to be on everybody's mind," Bart said. "I want every man in America to say, 'I can do that' when they see Zach."

IMG Models has signed Gigi Hadid, Chrissy Teigen, Christie Brinkley and more.

BuzzFeed also caught up with Miko, who is 6-foot-6-inches tall with a 40-inch waist, in a video interview.

"I learned to love myself and my body through modeling," he said.
