What's HOT Central Florida : April 28 - May 4

As I write this column, I've been very thankful for the spring we've received so far. Normally in Florida we joke that we don't get a spring, but mild temperatures have persisted well into April, allowing for lots of fun activities outside.

Recently, the AIDS Walk Orlando was held at Lake Eola, and hundreds of people participated, raising money to further the mission of the Hope & Help Center of Central Florida. Hope & Help announced some big news after the Walk: They've outgrown their current base of operations in Winter Park and they're looking for a new home! I hope they find a suitable space very soon! Thursday April 28

Joey Brooks and Kori Stevens will host tonight's amateur strip contest at Bradley's on 7th in Tampa! At midnight, head to the divas stage and catch some sexy men taking it all off! The winners will walk away with hundreds in cash and prizes for their efforts! If drag is more your thing, Joey has great shows prepared for this weekend: Kori Stevens returns tomorrow, performing with Esme Russell and Pheyonce Montrese. Saturday night's show includes Joey, Esme, Lady Janet and Apple Love. Weekend showtimes are at 11:30 p.m. and 1:15 a.m.

Southern Nights Tampa presents a special edition of Campus Thursdays: a Beyonc� tribute! You can win tickets to tomorrow night's Beyonc� concert at Raymond James Stadium, but you must be present to snatch the tix! Angelique Young and Anita Waistline will host the strip contest at midnight, where the winners can walk away with $100 in cash and prizes! There is no cover for people over 21 this evening.

Friday April 29

Tonight is Southern Nights Tampa's Leather and Fetish Takeover! This edition of Man Meat Fridays is a special fundraiser for Florida Leather -n- Fetish Pride Weekend. There will be leather and fetish demos going on throughout the night, adult film stars and go-go dancers mingling with the crowd, and music by DJ Reagan. No cover until 11 p.m. for people over 21.

Saturday April 30

BarCodes Orlando's leather night is this evening, as it is the last Saturday night of every month. There will be a number of stations where BDSM play is encouraged, and many demonstration areas will also be open for people to learn the safe way to play. Don't have anything leather in your wardrobe? Buy anything your heart desires at the adjoining Store @ BarCodes. This event is hosted by Daddy Dave Hall.

Parliament House Orlando is excited for the return of what they call "Orlando's biggest toga party"! Tonight's toga party kicks off at 9 p.m. and there will be a contest later on in the night for best toga, with $200 in cash as the grand prize! If you don't have a toga, there will be a toga booth available for you to buy one right there at Parliament House! The Footlight Players will perform at 10 p.m. and midnight. Music by DJ Brianna.

Sunday May 1

If you're a fan of poker, you should head out to Stonewall Bar Orlando this evening and play with the 4 Aces Poker League! Ryan will be your bartender, ready to serve up lots of tasty beverages. The poker league meets here every week and begins play at 8 p.m., going on until midnight.

Monday May 2

Did you know SAVOY Orlando is also hosting RuPaul's Drag Race viewing parties? They are hosted by the SAVOY Star herself, Mocha Skye, and everyone gathers on the Paradise Patio beginning at 8 p.m. before the show begins at 9.

Wednesday May 4
