Police from Portland, Ore. arrested a man, who legally changed his name to Avril Lavigne, Tuesday for failing to register as a sex offender, OregonLive.com reports.

Cops announced Monday that Lavigne, who was born Romany Yves Mesina, had a warrant out for his arrest on suspicion for allegedly following teen girls and young women, taking photos of them and then posting the pics on social media, the website reports.

Lavigne, 30, who shares a name with Canadian alternative pop star Avril Lavigne, also has not registered as a sex offender after his 2009 conviction for second-degree rape.

According to court records obtained by OregonLive.com, he changed his name to Avril Lavigne in October 2014.
