Holding the Man
Kilian Melloy READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Director Neil Armfield helms a funny, tender, and poignant screen adaptation of Timothy Conigrave's memoir "Holding the Man."
The book tells the story of how Conigrave, an aspiring actor, and John Caleo, a star athlete, fell in love as students at a Jesuit high school in 1970s Australia. Despite everything, the two stuck together for the rest of their lives, which were cut tragically short by AIDS.
Ryan Corr portrays Conigrave with warmth and humor. Craig Stott plays Caleo with shyness, but also great strength. This feature film is an instant classic in the mold of "Longtime Companion."
